Fans boo Elon Musk as he makes surprise appearance

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, attended the Valorant Champions 2023 tournament finals in Los Angeles on Saturday, but fans of the video game didn't hold back their disapproval. The audience at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles booed Musk when his presence was highlighted during the live broadcast, even though his face was barely visible on the screens in the dark arena.

Crowd demands a return to Twitter

As the game commentators tried to carry on, the crowd broke into a chant of "Bring back Twitter", clearly audible during the livestream. Fans were referring to Musk's acquisition of the social media network and his decision to rebrand it as X. Musk took over Twitter in October 2022, and more recently rebranded it, ditching the iconic blue bird logo and light blue color scheme.

Rebranding of Twitter

Musk's decision to rebrand Twitter and change the terminology has sparked mixed reactions among users. "Tweets" and "retweets" are now called "posts" and "reposts" on the platform. After unveiling the new logo in July, Musk suggested that tweets should now be called "x's".

Video of booing moment goes viral

A video posted by streamer Jake Lucky showing the moment when Musk was booed has gone viral, with over 11.6 million views. Reactions to the video were mixed, with some finding the crowd's reaction funny and/or righteous, while others defended Musk. Some even suggested that he would "ban all Valorant content on Twitter" in retaliation.
