The Fortnite Championship Series, or FNCS, is making a highly-anticipated return with some exciting changes to its format. Here’s everything you need to know about FNCS 2024, including when it starts, what’s the prize pool, and how you can qualify.

FNCS 2024 Format and Schedule

This year, FNCS will feature three Majors, taking place from January to July. Each Major will be preceded by two Open Qualifiers, giving Fortnite Battle Royale players a chance to participate.

The three Majors will consist of Upper and Lower Semi-Finals, where qualified players will be distributed based on their leaderboard rankings. The top 50 Duos from the semis will then compete in the Grand Final for spots at the in-person Global Championship.

It's important to note that FNCS 2024 will be played in duos, and there won’t be a Last Chance Major this year. Players will have the three Majors to secure their spot at the main event.

When Does FNCS 2024 Start?

FNCS 2024 is already underway, with the Open Qualifier for Major 1 running from January 26 to February 4, 2024. Each day, players will have three hours to earn as many points as possible over 10 matches to qualify for the next round.

The Open Qualifier will have three or four rounds, depending on the region, to reach the semi-finals. In Europe and North America, the Open Qualifier consists of four rounds.

Here are the exact dates for each round of the Open Qualifiers in the EU (including UK players) and NA regions:

Open Qualifier 1 (EU and NA)

  • Round 1 – January 26, 2024
  • Round 2 – January 27, 2024
  • Round 3 – January 27, 2024
  • Round 4 – January 28, 2024

Open Qualifier 2 (EU and NA)

  • Round 1 – February 2, 2024
  • Round 2 – February 3, 2024
  • Round 3 – February 3, 2024
  • Round 4 – February 4, 2024

How Much is the FNCS 2024 Prize Pot?

The FNCS 2024 comes with an impressive prize pool of $7.675 million, which is approximately £6.02 million. This substantial amount will be distributed across the three Majors and the Global Championship.

For the first Major’s Grand Finals in Europe, the prize pot is $880,000, with the winning duo taking home $170,000. The remaining amount will be divided among the other duos in the top 50.

How Many Players Will Compete in FNCS 2024?

The Open Qualifiers for the Majors are open to all Fortnite Battle Royale players who have a rank of at least Platinum I. With millions of Fortnite players meeting this requirement, tens of thousands of duos are expected to join the competition.

However, only the top 50 duos will eventually compete in each Major’s Grand Final.

How to Qualify for the Majors

If you meet the rank requirement of at least Platinum I, you can compete as a duo in the two Open Qualifiers for the Majors. It’s time to gather your Fortnite partner and showcase your skills on the battlefield!
