Insomniac delivers another superhero hit
Not all superhero games have been hits, but Insomniac has shown that it knows what it’s doing. With Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the team has once again filled Peter Parker’s shoes and created an incredible gaming experience.
An improvement in every way
The sequel is an improvement in almost every way that matters. While the original had slick combat, fast-paced traversal, and a heartfelt story, the side missions held it back. Spider-Man 2 keeps some of this repetition, but it does an excellent job of playing with your expectations and changing the formulas.
Two playable Spider-Men
One of the standout features of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the ability to play as both Miles Morales and Peter Parker. This adds a new dynamic to the game and allows players to explore the city from two different perspectives. There are also missions that force you to play as a specific character, which feed into the main story and answer some of the bigger questions.
A more immersive world
With more freedom and options for tackling each mission, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 offers a more immersive experience. The web-slinging is as amazing as ever, and the addition of web wings adds even more fun to traversal. The combat has also been enhanced, allowing players to use the environment to their advantage and utilize new parry attacks.
Unforgettable moments
While the boss fights may be a weak point, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 still delivers unforgettable moments throughout the game. The inclusion of Venom, though not as heavily featured as in the trailers, adds excitement and intensity to certain scenes. The Symbiote suit also brings a whole new level of power and abilities to the gameplay.
A polished and slick sequel
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it doesn’t need to. The game plays, looks, and sounds incredible, proving that a sequel can be even better than the original. Insomniac has built upon the solid foundations of the first game and delivered a polished and slick experience that will captivate fans of the Spider-Man franchise.
