MULTIVERSUS, the fighting game with characters from multiple series, enters its first official season today, with new characters reportedly revealed.
Despite only being in open beta until today, the game which features characters from DC, Scooby Doo, and a host of other Warner Bros. properties, has seen over 10million players.
Black Adam will come to cinemas this October
New characters will be introduced over time, with Rick and Morty from the TV show of the same name coming this season.
Morty has a release date of August 23, while Rick is assumed to enter the game sometime after this.
However, some fans claim to have spotted a promotional image for the game on their online storefront, featuring two characters not yet officially revealed.
The first is Black Adam, the anti-hero from the DC comics.
Black Adam will be the star in his own film releasing this October, with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson cast in the titular role.
The appearance in the promotional art looks more similar to his look in the comic books than the movie.
The second new character in the apparently leaked art is Stripe, the main antagonist in the Gremlins films.
Everyone knows not to feed a Mogwai after midnight, and feeding Stripe turned him into a horrifyingly destructive Gremlin.
He is seen on the advert in his Gremlin form, not his Mogwai form.
These characters have never been officially announced, and it is possible the screenshot was doctored.
Previously, a list claiming to be leaks of upcoming characters appeared online.
However, neither of these characters are on that list.
Multiple DC superheroes and villains are already on the roster, but other characters such as the Joker and Raven were predicted to appear.
Despite this, there was no specific mention of Black Adam, though it would make sense to increase interest prior to the film’s release.
The protagonist of the Gremlins series, Gizmo, was previously predicted to feature.
However, as Gizmo is usually in cute Mogwai form, it makes sense that the more violent and destructive Stripe would appear in a fighting game.
