Nintendo Direct Teases Super Mario Bros. Wonder with Exciting New Features

Nintendo recently held a Mario-themed Nintendo Direct broadcast, revealing new details about the highly anticipated game Super Mario Bros. Wonder. The game, set to release on October 20, 2023, boasts a range of improvements over its predecessors, including three new abilities. The Elephant Form, Wonder Flowers, and a roster of playable Mushroom Kingdom characters are just a few of the exciting features awaiting players.

Elephant Form and Wonder Flowers Take Center Stage

Super Mario Bros. Wonder introduces the Elephant Form ability, which allows characters to transform into an elephant and break sturdy objects. In addition, players can use their trunk to suck up and spray water. The game also offers two brand-new abilities: Bubble Form, which captures enemies by throwing bubbles at them, and Drill Form, which turns characters into drills for hiding or reaching new areas. Wonder Flowers are another standout feature, allowing players to transform levels and characters by simply touching a flower.

Multiplayer Fun and Challenges Await

Super Mario Bros. Wonder includes local co-op multiplayer, allowing up to four friends to team up in the same room. Online multiplayer features the exciting addition of ghosts from around the world appearing in your level. Players must race against these ghost players and reach the end of the level simultaneously to earn a bonus. The game also offers a race mode where friends and strangers can compete to complete a level in the shortest time possible.

Introducing the Nintendo Switch OLED Mario Red Edition

In addition to the new game, Nintendo officially announced a new Nintendo Switch OLED model console. The Mario Red Edition, inspired by Super Mario Bros. Wonder, features vibrant red Joy-Con controllers and a matching red Switch Dock. The console's back is also a unique shade of Mario Red. Fans can now pre-order the limited edition console, priced at $349.99, from the Nintendo Store. Shipping will begin on October 6, 2023.
