Nintendo fans are eagerly anticipating the release of a new Switch console, and a reliable leak has given them a taste of what's to come. French site Dealabs editor billbil-kun has shared exciting information about the upcoming Nintendo Switch OLED model.
New special edition themed around Super Mario Bros. Wonder
According to the leak, Nintendo is preparing to launch a limited-edition variant of the Nintendo Switch OLED model. This special edition console will be themed around the highly anticipated 2D Mario game, Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
Design details revealed
Billbil-kun claims to have seen the design of the new OLED model variant and has shared some key details. The console will feature two red Joy-Con and a red Switch Dock. However, there will be no other Mario-themed customizations on the device, such as logos or characters.
Additionally, the shade of red used for the console matches the one on the right Joy-Con of the classic Neon Blue/Neon Red version of the Switch OLED model. Some elements on the back of the console, like the volume control buttons, may also be red.
Pricing and potential pre-order deals
According to the leak, the Mario Red Edition of the Switch OLED model will be priced the same as the existing standard models. In France, the standard OLED models are priced at €349.99. However, some retailers may offer the Mario Red Edition at a discounted price of €310, so fans in the UK and US may also have the opportunity to grab a pre-order deal.
Possible release date
While an exact release date for the Mario Red Edition hasn't been revealed, billbil-kun suggests that it will likely be out before October to align with the release of Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Nintendo typically starts shipping these special edition models a couple of weeks before the respective game's release date. As the game is set to release on October 20, a late September or early October launch seems probable.
