Fans Disappointed with Pricing of PS5 Slim
PlayStation has recently unveiled its new PS5 Slim model, but fans are already expressing their dissatisfaction with it. Many believe that the pricing is not in line with other consoles currently on the market. Additionally, fans were disappointed to learn that the stand for the PS5 Slim will be sold separately.
Same Specs, Slimmer Design
The new PS5 Slim model boasts the same specifications as the original version but is a third slimmer in size. It even comes with a detachable disc drive to reduce the weight and size of the console. While there are some improvements in terms of the console's form, fans were hoping for a price reduction since the PS5 has been on the market for over three years.
No Price Reduction for New Models
Despite retailers offering reduced prices for the original PS5 models, the new PS5 Slim with a disc drive will cost the same as the original model's recommended retail price (£479 / $499). This price point is noticeably higher than the typical price found in stores. The Digital Edition of the PS5 will also maintain its price at £389 ($449).
Stand Sold Separately, Increasing Cost
New models of the PS5 will come with a small horizontal stand, but there is no way to store the console vertically. Surprisingly, the stand that allows for vertical placement will be sold separately, whereas it was included with the original model. This additional cost of £25 ($30) further increases the price of the console.
Unlikely Price Reduction in the Future
It seems unlikely that the price of the new PS5 Slim will be reduced anytime soon, as Sony has not budged on the pricing of other accessories like the PS VR2 and the DualSense Edge pro controller, despite fan complaints. PlayStation fans will have to consider these factors when deciding whether to purchase the new PS5 Slim.
