PS5 owners are in love with the powerful gaming console, but the battery life of the controller has always been a sore point.

While PlayStation claims the DualSense will last up to 12 hours on a single charge, players have found the real battery life to be closer to four.

You can make your DualSense last even longer.

Ever since the poor battery life was discovered, gamers have been looking for ways to extend it.

And it seems the answer was staring us in the face all along.

The DualSense receives regular updates from the PS5, and as more updates are added the controller is struggling to do more things.

This drains the battery life, as the more it is attempting to do, the more power it requires.

The easiest way to ease on the battery is to turn off any unnecessary functions that the DualSense is performing.

There is one function that is turned on by default but that most players don’t use.

The DualSense comes with an inbuilt microphone, but most people who use voice chat usually use a headset with its own mic.

If you don’t see an orange light on at the bottom of your controller, then your mic is on, but you can turn it off by pressing the button.

This is often set to live on start up, so many people leave it on without realising.

There are even more settings you can alter that will add to your DualSense’s battery life.

By going to Settings > Accessories > Controller you can change more settings like the volume of the DualSense speaker, and the intensity of the vibration.

The lower these are set the less your battery will be drained, but turning all of these functions off could hamper your playing experience.

The best method is to play around with these settings and find the lowest setting that still allows you to enjoy your games to the fullest
