PlayStation Project Q price revealed – and it’s more than people were expecting

A SURPRISING detail has been revealed about the upcoming PlayStation handheld Project Q.

Project Q was revealed earlier this year during the May PlayStation Showcase.

Project Q will stream games from the PS5.

Little about the upcoming PlayStation handheld was revealed, but we did get to see what it would look like.

Sony has since revealed that Project Q would be releasing this year, and is a streaming only console.

This means players will have to own a PS5 in order to play games on it, as it streams directly from the console.

The Project Q and PS5 also need to be connected via the same internet connection, meaning that it cannot be used on the go.

Despite these details, there has still been no firm release date or price announced.

However, Microsoft has now entered documents into court that give details on Project Q’s pricing.

As reported by Axios’ Stephen Totilo, a footnote in one of the court documents reveals the handheld’s price.

It reads: “Sony is also anticipated to release a handheld version of the PlayStation 5 later this year for under $300.”

This footnote can only be referring to Project Q, though calling it a handheld version of the PS5 isn’t exactly accurate.

While it can play PS5 games, it can’t do so natively, and instead streams games from the player’s PS5.

PlayStation is known to price its accessories higher than Xbox but this is still a lot more than people were expecting.

It’s around the same price as the Xbox Series S which is a full console that can play games natively.

However, the PS5 was initially much more expensive than the comparative Xbox Series X.

The PS5 has another accessory that requires the PS5 to work, the PS VR2, and this costs an eye-watering £530 ($550).

Despite this, fans were still expecting Project Q to be cheaper as it is an accessory and doesn’t have exclusive games.

Third-party accessories, such as the Backbone One, already offer more opportunities to stream from your PS5 for only £100 ($100).
