PlayStation owners were pleasantly surprised to receive a free upgrade for one of the best games of all time, enhancing the gaming experience.

Upgrade brings smooth gameplay to PS5 and PS4 Pro owners

The recent port of Red Dead Redemption has received an update that unlocks 60fps on both the PS5 and PS4 Pro, granting players a much smoother and immersive gaming experience.

Disappointment for Xbox and Nintendo Switch owners

Unfortunately, the free upgrade is exclusive to PlayStation owners, leaving those with original PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox consoles without the enhanced gameplay.

Double the framerate with the new patch

The newly released update, labeled as Update 1.03, allows players to enjoy Red Dead Redemption at 60fps on both the PS5 and PS4 Pro. This is a significant improvement from the previous 30fps framerate.

Fans express mixed reactions to the port

Upon its release in August, the new version of Red Dead Redemption for PS4 and Switch received mixed reactions from fans. Some were expecting more changes and improvements over the original game, which was released in 2010 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Upgrade leaves behind PS4 and Nintendo Switch owners

Today's upgrade excludes owners of the original PS4 and Nintendo Switch consoles, who will be limited to playing the game at 30fps on the new port.

Xbox owners left out, but still have backwards compatibility

Unfortunately, Xbox owners did not receive the upgrade. However, they can still play the original version of Red Dead Redemption for Xbox 360 on the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One through backwards compatibility. The game is locked at the original 30fps on these consoles.

Disappointed Nintendo Switch owners

Similar to Xbox owners, Nintendo Switch owners are still waiting for a framerate upgrade. The game's port remains locked at 30fps on the platform.
