Speaking to viewers while sat with Maya Jama and music superstar Olivia Rodrigo, host Mo said: “Earlier in the show I got a little bit carried away and swore. Apologies for any offence caused. I lost myself.”

Maya Jama told Mo: “It’s alright, it gets exciting. It happens to the best of us.”

Mo went on to joke that his auntie would be unhappy with him, while pop singer Olivia Rodrigo looked on in amusement.

Comedian Mo has taken over Brit Awards hosting duties from Jack Whitehall, and he’s proven to be a surefire hit with viewers, as they took to Twitter to praise his work.

And a third said: “Mo Gilligan is brilliant.”

Speaking about hosting the Brits at London’s O2 Arena, Mo previously said he was hoping not to offend any of his pop star friends with his jokes.

He told the Evening Standard: “A lot of musicians, I know them personally, they are friends. I don’t want to lose any friendships at the expense of a few jokes.”
