Masked Singer finale

RHINO has been finally been revealed to be Charlie Simpson in The Masked Singer’s grand finale.

The Busted and Fightstar singer has been long-rumoured to be hidden under the elaborate costume, with fans previously saying it was “obvious” due to his distinctive gravelly singing voice.

Charlie Simpson was crowned this year’s champion of The Masked Singer

Rhino had a long-standing country music theme to their clue teasers on The Masked Singer, dressing up as a cowboy as they navigated their way through a Western setting.

Over the course of the show, Rhino performed Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol, Into You by Ariana Grande and Use Somebody by Kings of Leon.

In Clue Song week, they sang The Lion King’s I Just Can’t Wait to Be King, which many believed confirmed Charlie’s identity as it was a reference to King Charles (aka Charlie).

In the final episode, they performed Before You Go by Lewis Capaldi, and Labrinth’s Beneath Your Beautiful with Harlequin (aka Gabrielle, who took part in the 2021 series)

The clue package gave hints to the number 3000 (like Busted hit Year 3000), and a school tie (from their music video for What I Go To School For).

After votes by the audience, Charlie was sent through to the final round with Phoenix, as Natalie Appleton was unmasked as Fawn.

For their final song, they performed Try by Pink, and in the final vote, was finally crowned champion, beating out Ricky Wilson, who was hidden behind Phoenix.

When it came to the big reveal, several of the judges had already cracked who was singing.

Davina McCall and Rita Ora both believed it to be Charlie due to his voice and the clues. It was later revealed even host Joel Dommett thought it was Charlie as well.

Mo Gilligan believed him to be Jason Orange from Take That, Lee Mack thought George Ezra, and Jonathan Ross thought James Arthur.

After being revealed, Charlie joked it was “so much weirder” to be on the stage without the mask.

The Masked Singer finally winds down a stunning series which has had more than a fair few surprises.

Kicking off at the beginning of the series, football pundit legend Chris Kamara was first revealed to be Ghost.

Singer Lulu was next out as Piece Of Cake, with married duo Martin and Shirlie Kemp out next after performing as Cat and Mouse.

Snooker player Stephen Hendry was hiding underneath the mask as Rubbish, and comedian Katherine Ryan shocked everyone when she was revealed to be Pigeon.

Claire from Steps fooled no one and was then revealed as Knitting, but Daisy May Cooper surprised fans when she was revealed as Otter.

In the semi-finals last week, there was two more eliminations with Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora being revealed as Jacket Potato and Glee’s Amber Riley (aka Jellyfish), who won The Masked Singer US last year, just falling short of making it to the final.

This left Fawn, Rhino and Phoenix fighting to be crowned this year’s champion, taking the crown from Natalie Imbruglia who won the 2022 series as Panda.

The Masked Singer is available to stream in full now on ITVX.
