THE MASKED Singer continued to fuel its mysteries on tonight’s show – but one character could have potentially been rumbled already.
In the musical celebrity guessing game, this week’s show was themed “Clue Song Week”, with the performers singing songs which held potential clues.
Phoenix was first up, with a killer performance to I’m Still Standing by Elton John, and extra clues in their package included nods to reality TV shows like Strictly, as well as a paintbrush.
The judges were stumped, with guesses including Glee’s Darren Criss, but fans were a bit more on the ball.
They’re now convinced through their own detective work that it’s in fact Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson.
They take into account the fact Ricky joined forces with David Tennant seven years ago to perform an Elton John track on Bring The Noise.
For the paintbrush, the I Predict A Riot star was also an art teacher before becoming Kaiser Chiefs broke through, and hosted CBBC’s Ricky Wilson’s Art Jam in 2021 as well as Britain’s Best Young Artist in 2022.
Another thought the song I’m Still Standing nodded to the fact Ricky performed on crutches after falling and breaking his foot on stage at V Festival.
“Phoenix is Ricky Wilson, prove me otherwise,” declared one viewer.
“Phoenix is Ricky Wilson, right? He’s hiding it by singing the songs like their original singers but…paint brushes – taught at Leeds college of Art,” added a second.
“Phoenix is such an entertainer,” noted a third. “Ricky Wilson has a masters degree in Art and was “still standing” when he performed on crutches with Kaiser Chiefs at V Festival after falling on stage.”
“Still convinced Phoenix is Ricky Wilson and he just decided to name every reality show but The Voice?” said another, noting the other clues from today’s package.
“Sorry everyone I’m now sure Phoenix is Ricky Wilson!” said another.
