FRUIT lovers have been told size does not matter as mini apples are set to fill the shelves in shops this winter.

Months of scorching hot weather and a lack of rain brought the growing season forward by a week earlier than usual – leaving the fruit smaller in size as a consequence.
The trade organisation, British Apples & Pears (BAP), said the earlier season arrival meant there was an upside to it as a “particularly flavoursome” crop was delivered by farmers.
Co-op are stocking the smaller apples at 1,300 of their stores, more than twice as many as usual.
The supermarket chain said it was vital to support the industry.
Sinead Bell from Co-op said: “Co-op continually works closely with its farmers and growers to ensure that great-tasting fresh produce does not go to waste.
“Shoppers can all too often be put off by fresh produce that is a different size, colour or shape than they are used to.”
Ms Bell added: “But our farmers are facing challenges, and we all must work together to ensure that delicious great-tasting seasonal fresh produce ends up on our table.”
