BRITS are set to enjoy some warm weather with spells of glorious sunshine as the February freeze comes to an end.

The Met Office have said that this weekend and early next week will be “dry and settled” for most of the nation.

Brits may enjoy far milder conditions over the weekend and next week

The weather will most likely be pleasantly dry and settled in the coming days

High pressure building across the country has helped bring milder conditions to the UK, according to the Met Office.

Temperatures are forecast to be between 9 to 11C for many, but could reach 13C across parts of eastern Scotland and southern England.

The forecaster says this is slightly higher than we would usually expect at this time of the year.

The February average is usually around 8 or 9C in southern England and 6C in Scotland.

No snow is expected across the UK over the coming days, as high pressure will keep the weather mostly dry.

And there may well be some sunshine on the cards with the Met Office predicting that some sunny spells are possible throughout the weekend.

A Met Office spokesman said: “Parts of eastern Scotland and northeast England have seen some so far on Saturday.

“Then on Sunday, an increase in the breeze will potentially help provide some sunny spells for Wales, western England and northern Scotland.

“For much of the UK, this weekend and early next week will be dry and settled.

“This is thanks to a ridge of high pressure that is building across the country.

“Around this ridge of high pressure, winds are coming up from a southerly direction, helping to bring milder air to the UK.”

The far milder conditions are in stark contrast to the freezing weather Brits have endured recently.

Wet and blustery winds had also hit parts of the nation yesterday.

Brits were hit by travel disruption over the last couple of days due to more snow, ice and fog warnings as temperatures plummeted to -4C.

More than a dozen flights at London City Airport were called off on Wednesday including Three British Airways flights heading to Dusseldorf, Rotterdam and Florence.

It comes as a Sudden Stratospheric Warming (SSW) may take place as March looms, according to previous forecasts by the Met Office.

An SSW refers to a sudden warming up in the stratosphere, the area found between six and 30 miles above the earth’s surface.
