Dancing on Ice ‘fix’ row explodes as fans complain format gives stars ‘unfair’ advantage

DANCING On Ice fans were up in arms over the show’s format as they were convinced it gave some contestants an unfair advantage over others.

This year contestants were split into two groups and those in group one were the first to take to the ice on January 16.

However, fans believe that those who skated in week one have had an extra week to learn a new routine ahead of this week’s show, whereas those in week two have not had that advantage.

And the frustration was clearly palpable judging by the comments on social media.

One fan took to Twitter to say: “Got nothing against Ekin-Su but wouldn’t she have had an advantage over any of this week’s skate off given she had an extra week to practice her routine?”

Another viewer wrote: “They would have had two routines to practice while she only had one? Not getting at her, it would have been the same for any in the skate off? That is my point!”

A third fan wrote: “I’m not judging anyone’s skating!”

But this is not the first time Dancing On Ice’s fairness has been called into question by fans.

It’s believed that ITV bosses are leaning on judges in a bid to keep contestant Ekin-Su in the show.

The former Love Island star, who received a 100 Ofcom complaints because of her racy nude outfit, went up against former footballer John Fashanu in the skate off – and the judges saved her.

One fan wrote: “Well we know Ekin-Su won’t be going if she’s up against Fashanu, which she should be, I reckon they would have fixed it that way anyway, they don’t want her sent home first.”

Another said: “Anyone else get the feeling it was weighted in favour of Ekin-Su? An extra week to prepare for the skate-off and I wouldn’t bet against ITV leaning on the judges to keep her in to please all the blinkered fans.”

They added: “I know Fash was awful but ES last week was atrocious.”
