DANCING On Ice’s history-making star Libby Clegg has revealed 2023 was the ‘hardest year of her life’ after splitting from her fiance of six years.

The Paralympic gold medallist, 33 – who got to the final of the ITV show in 2020 – opened up about her struggles in a candid Instagram post.

Libby and her fiancé fellow Paralympian Dan Powell, who got together in 2017, are no longer an item.

Sharing a sweet snap of herself with their son Edward, Libby wrote on the social media platform: “Many of you may not know this but 2023 has been one of the hardest years of my life.

“There’s been a lot more downs than ups and at times I’ve really felt like giving up.

“This little boy has brought me so much joy and happiness and made me smile even when I didn’t think it was possible.

“Being a single Mum is toughest thing I’ve ever had to overcome

“Looking forward to 2024, I’m excited for what my future will bring with a fresh start.”

Fans shared their love and support in the comments section.

One wrote: “Keep smiling Libby xx.”

Another added: “Bless you Libby you are stronger than you think you are no matter what you’ve got this I believe in you, keep that head held high.”

“You are a very strong person and a wonderful mother and such a lovely friend. 2024 is a new start and you will come out on top as you always do. Love you and Edward very much xx,” a third chimed in.

Shortly after getting together, the former couple got engaged.

The following year they revealed that they were expecting their first child, and in April 2019 they welcomed Edward into the world.

Over the years Libby has bagged herself a number of medals at the Paralympic Games, IPC World Championships and World Games.

Her events are T11 100m and T11 200m.

Libby took part in Dancing On Ice in 2020.

The sportswoman was paired with Mark Hanretty and made history when she was the first blind contestant to take part in the competition.
