DANCING On Ice star Mark Hanretty has spoken out in an emotional video about trolling his co-stars have received – and pledged for people to “just be kind”.
The 38-year-old, who has been skating with Adele Roberts, 44, as part of this year’s series of the ITV show, took to social media to share his concerns.
In the clip girl dad Mark defends the women taking part in this year’s Dancing On Ice, and pleads with people to help make a change and stop online bullying, and in particular towards women.
Mark said in the lengthy video: “I cannot quite comprehend that we still live n a world where the just be kind philosophy hasn’t taken over.
“I am gobsmacked that there can be so much vitriol online and it really troubles me and saddens me that it particularly seems against women…
“I have a six year old gorgeous daughter who I adore beyond comprehension and it pains me and saddens me that she might go into a world where she will suffer nasty comments online like I see my friend’s receive and that really troubles me.
“How can we go on a world now where there should be more accountability for nastiness done online.”
He ended with: “Let’s eradicate online nastiness because it serves no place and benefits no one.”
Mark captioned the post: “Feeling passionately committed this morning to promoting kindness online.
“Feeling sad and troubled that nastiness on social media is so prevalent.
“Concerned that this could affect my family or anyone I know and eager to do whatever tiny thing I could do to eradicate trolling or keyboard warriors.
“Just be kind!
“Wishing everyone a happy Monday and a great week ahead.”
Amber Davies, 27, reposted the video on her Instagram story with the caption: “THIS IS SO IMPORTANT.”
Last night saw Eddie the Eagle get sent home in an intense skate off against Amber.
Some viewers took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their disappointment – and even labelled the competition a ‘fix’ because Eddie’s dance was more technical than her’s.
Eddie performed to Elton John‘s Rocket Man, while Love Island‘s Amber danced a dramatic performance to Little Mix‘s Power.
Other fans complained that the results were “rigged” to get Amber into the final.
One wrote on the social media platform: “Every week Amber has been picked up for not skating alone.
