Hollyoaks actor Nick Pickard opens up about his weight loss during his time on I’m A Celebrity

Hollyoaks star Nick Pickard, known for his role as Tony Hutchinson, has shared the details of his dramatic weight loss while competing on the hit reality show I’m A Celebrity. Despite the best efforts of fellow campmates to cook hearty meals, Nick couldn’t help but shed pounds during his 18-day stay in the jungle.

“Weight restrictions” and the impact on his shape

During an interview with HOAR, Nick revealed that the diet of rice and beans in camp had a significant impact on his physique. He explained that there were “weight restrictions” during the daily Bushtucker Trials, and he lost a total of one stone three pounds. Nick shared that he was curious about his weight and tried to look at the scales during the trials, but the medic wouldn’t show him. He added that it made his post-jungle experience all the more interesting.

Readjusting to a normal life

After leaving the camp, Nick had to readjust to a normal diet. He mentioned that he received warnings from others about being careful with his food choices, as he had been on a strict and balanced diet in the jungle. Nick jokingly described his camp experience as “starving” compared to a balanced diet. He also revealed that he has learned to reassess his eating habits, particularly avoiding midnight snacks, which he believes contributed to his weight gain in the past.

Keeping the weight off

When asked if he intends to maintain his weight loss, Nick said he would try his best, but with Christmas approaching, he can’t make any promises. He acknowledged that the holiday season might tempt him to indulge and regain some weight.

Implications for his character on Hollyoaks

As the longest-serving cast member on Hollyoaks, Nick’s character Tony Hutchinson has a distinct appearance that fans are familiar with. When asked about the continuity of his weight loss, Nick admitted that he doesn’t know how the show’s writers will handle it. He explained that he receives call sheets for the following week on Fridays and won’t be back on set for at least another week. Nick jokingly suggested that perhaps Tony had a big Christmas, implying that the show might need to address his weight loss.
