Nigel Farage, the former UKIP leader, has recently opened up about his decision to participate in the reality TV show I’m A Celebrity, and it’s not for the reported £1.5 million fee he received. Contrary to popular belief, Farage claims that his motivation for joining the show was to prove a point to the British public.

Proving Himself and Changing Perceptions

Reflecting on his experience, Farage stated, “This has been the most amazing adventure, I’ve proved to myself I can do things I never believed I could.” He also expressed his hope that he has shown the British public that he is not the “devil” that some may perceive him to be.

A Shower Controversy

During his time on the show, Farage made headlines for breaking the rules by showering naked. However, he has since claimed that he was not the only celebrity to do so, but was singled out by producers for the publicity. Farage stated, “Many other campmates did the same. Only I got the publicity, but you know something? I couldn’t care less.”

A Lucrative Deal

It was previously reported that Farage received a staggering £1.5 million for his appearance on I’m A Celebrity, making him the highest-paid campmate in the show’s history. This amount far surpasses the £600,000 paid to presenter Noel Edmonds in 2018.

Reaching a New Audience

In addition to the financial aspect, Farage also expressed his desire to compete in the Bushtucker Trials, as it would provide him with more airtime and the opportunity to reach a wider audience. He believed that participating in the challenges would allow him to connect with new viewers.

Nigel Farage’s journey on I’m A Celebrity has been eventful, to say the least. Whether or not he achieved his goals of proving himself and changing public perceptions, one thing is for sure – he certainly made a lasting impression.
