Reality TV star Pete Wicks found himself in a hilariously awkward situation as he reunited with his friend Sam Thompson and Sam’s girlfriend Zara McDermott after Sam’s victory on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!.
The reunion
Sam Thompson, who was crowned the winner of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, arrived back in the UK yesterday to a warm welcome from Zara McDermott, who was carrying a bunch of balloons. Pete Wicks, who had been in Australia to support Sam during the final, was also there to witness the reunion.
Pete’s amusing reaction
Feeling like the third wheel, Pete Wicks shared some pictures of the special moment on social media, jokingly captioning them: “They were reunited…I was awkward.” In another picture, he compared himself to the character Carl from the animated film Up, who also holds a bunch of balloons.
Zara’s absence explained
Some fans questioned why Zara McDermott wasn’t there to meet Sam at the airport. Zara took to Instagram to explain that she thought she would still be competing on Strictly Come Dancing, which is why she didn’t make arrangements to be there. She also mentioned that Pete had cleared his schedule for a few weeks to be by Sam’s side.
Celebrating at home
Although Zara couldn’t be there in person, she hosted a celebration party at their home with friends and family to support Sam as he became the King of the Jungle. The couple also have training for their final Strictly Come Dancing performance, as Zara is currently abroad filming two documentaries.
A heartfelt message
After his win, Sam Thompson expressed his gratitude to his fans on social media. He thanked them for their support and admitted that he was initially nervous about how he would come across on the show. However, he was overwhelmed by the positive response and is grateful for all the love and support he received.
