I’M A Celebrity fans were thrilled when reality TV queen Olivia Attwood signed up to take part in the 2022 series.
But sadly viewers were left shocked when the former Love Island star quit the show after just a few days.
When did Olivia Attwood enter the jungle on I’m A Celebrity?
HOAR exclusively revealed on October 5, 2022 that Olivia Attwood was set to enter the I’m A Celebrity jungle for the ITV show’s 2022 series.
A TV insider told us at the time: ‘This is a sign that [Love Island] is now so big and produces figures with such high profiles that they can no longer be dismissed.
“Olivia is already viewed as a rising star on ITV and this is likely to serve as a launchpad for potentially fronting more mainstream shows with the broadcaster.”
Olivia then entered the jungle on November 6, 2023.
Why did Olivia Attwood leave the jungle?
On November 7, 202 it was revealed that Olivia had left I’m A Celebrity on “medical ground”
ITV said at the time: “As a precautionary measure Olivia needed to leave the jungle to undergo some medical checks.
“Unfortunately the medical team has advised it is not safe for Olivia to return to camp as there needs to be a further investigation. She has been absolutely brilliant and she’ll be very much missed on the show.”
Olivia later shed more light on why she was forced to leave the show, after such a short amount of time.
In an interview with the MailOnline, she explained that a routine blood test taken by the show’s medical staff revealed that she was “dangerously anaemic” – which is a fact that she said shocked her considering she was “feeling fine” despite being rushed to hospital.
Olivia also described the whole ordeal as “scary”.
“I was like: ‘What the hell is wrong with me?’ They couldn’t give me an answer, they just told me that they had to get me to the hospital immediately,” she revealed.
“The results were really, really low when they put them into their reader, and they consulted with another doctor off site. I had those bloods done inbefore I left, and they were fine, so I was confused and of course very, very worried.”
As well as anaemia, the medical tests also showed that Olivia had low levels of both sodium and potassium, so ITV staff decided to take the safe option and not allow her back into the jungle – which she said left her “absolutely devastated” and was like “a punch in the gut”.
“It was so emotional. I was heartbroken and gutted. I tried to keep my emotions in check and keep it in perspective, things could be so much worse,” she added.
Did Olivia get paid for I’m A Celebrity?
It was revealed at the time of her jungle exit, that Olivia would still get paid her £125k fee – despite leaving the show after just 24 hours.
Usually a celebrity has to stick the show out for at least 72 hours, if they still want to bank their pay check.
But as Olivia left on “medical grounds” she was still entitled to her fee.
“Olivia wanted to continue and because it was the medical team’s decision she has done nothing wrong and so should be in line to get paid,” a TV source told The Mirror at the time.
