IAIN Stirling thinks Love Island could film in the UK this year after I’m A Celeb’s success in Wales.

He hopes Love Island will return in the summer – but admits Covid restrictions could mean its haul of sexy singletons won’t be off to sunny Majorca.

Love Island voiceover star Iain Stirling thinks the show could be filmed in the UK after I’m A Celeb’s success in Wales

Asked if he knew what the future holds for the hit ITV2 show, voiceover star Iain, 33, said: “Hey, let’s see what happens.

“Like I said, I’ve no idea, but it could be quite amusing seeing Love Island contestants embracing the beaches of Bognor Regis at some point.

“When they can’t eat their dinner because seagulls are taking it off the plate… it could mix it up.”

Noting ITV’s other big hitting show was praised when it relocated from a jungle in Australia to Grwych Castle in Wales, he added to Metro.co.uk: “I genuinely thought I’m A Celeb was so brilliant this year, it’s an option.

“I’m A Celeb did such a good job, man. It was so funny and such a good season.”

Last year’s summer series was cancelled due to the pandemic and ITV’s director of television Kevin Lygo has already said he would consider looking at alternative locations, which filmed for the first time in South Africa in February 2020, as a two-year break would be too long for the show.

Speaking at the Edinburgh festival last summer, Kevin said: “If we couldn’t do it in Majorca, well, maybe we’ll have to do it like we’ve done with I’m A Celeb, find a new place to do it, because then it would have been off a long time and that would be a shame. We need it.”

Meanwhile, producers are hopeful it will go ahead and Iain’s wife, Love Island host Laura Whitmore, has already advertised the 2021 application form.

He said ‘it’s an option’ but he remained tight-lipped on any formal plans

Meanwhile, the casting website reads: “ITV2 are looking for vibrant singles from across the UK who are searching for love!

“Our Islanders spend time in a luxury villa in the hope of finding love, but to remain in paradise they must win the hearts of the public and their fellow Islanders, who ultimately decide their fate on Love Island.

“If you think you’ve got what it takes, then we want to hear from you!”
