LOVE Island’s Jess Harding has been slammed by fans over a “nasty” swipe at her departing co-star Mal Nicol.

Mal was dumped from the ITV2 show along with Mehdi last night after viewers were told to vote for their favourite villa stars.

Mal left the villa on Tuesday night

The pair received the fewest number of votes and were given the boot, with Mal saying an emotional goodbye to Sammy after their brief romance.

And with Mal out of the picture, Jess and Sammy appear to be growing close once more.

Jess was in good spirits in Wednesday’s episode and told the girls “Sammy brings something out in me” while the group got ready for another night in the villa.

While Whitney and Catherine said they were happy for her, Kady wanted to know: “Does it not worry you that if she had never been dumped you might not have rekindled?”

Jess shot back: “Yeah but there was a reason she got dumped.”

Whitney piped up: “What was the reason?”

And Jess retorted: “That it was meant to be.”

Viewers blasted Jess for the comment on Twitter and also warned her off Sammy.

One viewer raged: “Jess is nasty for that. I knew she was secretly buzzing when mal left.”

Another said: “Really don’t like Jess. Bare in mind Mal did nothing wrong to her but she’s being shady for this man that doesn’t even want her.”

And one more commented: “Mal had to get dumped for Sammy to pay attention to you again?”

As a fourth tweeted: “I wish jess knew what sammy’s been saying about her and that he was saying to mal that he feels happier in 3 days with mal than he has with her..”

Later in the evening Jess and Sammy got together for a chat and she told him: “I feel like we’ve picked up exactly where we was.”

Sammy agreed: “When I was with Mal I did still have feelings for you and think about you a lot.”
