Love Island star Mitchel Taylor has finally spoken out about his breakup with Ella Barnes and shared the true reason behind their split. The couple, who left the villa just weeks ago, announced the end of their romance earlier today.
Mitch explains the breakup
Mitch, 27, took to Instagram to address the shocking news and reveal his side of the story. He wrote, "As you have most likely seen Ella's post, sadly our relationship has come to an end. We had no intentions of ending it, but our busy lives and living on opposite sides of the country made it extremely challenging for us."
He added, "I wish Ella nothing but the best. She is a lovely girl and deserves the world."
Ella's statement
Ella, 23, also shared her thoughts on the breakup, expressing her disappointment that their journey had come to an end. In a statement, she said, "Just wanted to come on here and keep you all updated, as you deserve to know as I wouldn't be where I am without you. Unfortunately, myself and Mitch have decided to end our relationship. I really wanted things to work out, and I'm gutted that our journey has come to an end."
"I wish Mitch all the best and hope he finds happiness. It's time for both of us to start a new chapter," she added.
The drama with Abi Moores
The breakup comes amidst claims made by Mitch's Love Island ex, Abi Moores, who stated that he had flirted with her behind Ella's back. In an interview with OK! Magazine, Abi admitted, "I do think there is still something there with Mitch – he's still quite flirty and very close and friendly with me when I've seen him out at events."
Abi further revealed that Ella felt threatened by her statement about having a better connection with Mitch. When asked if she would consider getting back together with him, Abi replied, "Never say never."
