Shoe Zone announces closure of Weymouth branch

Shoe Zone, the popular bargain shoe shop known for its cheap school shoes, has announced the closure of its Weymouth branch. However, it's not all bad news as the store is relocating to a larger premises that used to house McDonald's.

Massive closing-down sale

In preparation for the move, Shoe Zone is hosting a massive closing-down sale at its Weymouth branch. Customers can expect discounts on a wide variety of shoes, including big-name brands.

Positive response from the business community

The news of Shoe Zone's relocation has been welcomed by the business community. Paul Appleby, President of Weymouth and Portland Chamber of Commerce, believes it is good news for the town centre and predicts that the unit next door to the new store will be quickly taken.

More branch closures

Shoe Zone has already announced the closure of more than a dozen stores, with branches in Crewe, Hinckey, Beccles, and Isle of Wight set to shut later this year. The company has faced challenges due to the coronavirus pandemic and closed 63 stores in the past year.

Other chain store closures

Shoe Zone's closure announcement comes in the wake of other giant chain stores, such as Wilko, falling into administration and closing multiple branches. However, some rival retailers, including Poundland, have stepped in to purchase some of the affected sites.
