Shoppers Discover Normal-Size Twirls Inside

Cadbury fans have been left in shock after discovering a big change to Heroes Christmas tubs. Social media has been flooded with posts from excited shoppers who found normal-size Twirls instead of the usual bite-size version in their tubs.

Cadbury Responds to Surprised Shopper

One shopper took to Twitter to query the change, asking CadburyUK about the inclusion of two multipack bars of Twirls in their Hero tub.

In response, Cadbury explained, "Due to supply chain issues, in a small percentage of Heroes tubs, we have temporarily substituted bite-size Cadbury Twirl with the slightly larger Cadbury Twirl 21g. This means you will still have the same amount of chocolate to enjoy in every tub!"

Supply Chain Issues Impacting Cadbury

This is not the first time supply chain issues have affected Cadbury. Last year, Mondelez, the US food giant that owns Cadbury, faced similar challenges with the availability of bite-size Cadbury Twirls.

A spokesman assured consumers, "Rest assured, consumers can enjoy the same amount of chocolate as before with the overall weight of the product remaining the same."

Shrinkflation Strikes Again

Cadbury faced criticism earlier this year when it was revealed that the size of its Christmas chocolate tubs had been reduced while the prices had increased.

Both the Heroes and Roses tubs have been reduced from 600g to 550g, but the retail price remains at £8.09. This tactic, known as shrinkflation, allows the company to absorb the increased costs of production without directly raising the price for consumers.

Supermarkets Set Their Own Prices

While the price set by Cadbury hasn't increased, customers can expect to pay more this year as supermarkets have the freedom to adjust prices themselves. Currently, 600g Cadbury Hero tubs are selling for £5 at Tesco, Morrisons, and Sainsbury's (with a £4 Clubcard price at Tesco), all higher than the £4 price last year. Asda sells the same tubs for £4.50, also an increase from last year's price of £4.
