The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) provides these payments to low-income individuals during extended periods of cold weather. How Payments Are Made

The reference in your bank account will appear as your National Insurance number followed by "DWP CWP" if you live in England or Wales, or "SSA CWP" if you live in Northern Ireland.

You can check if your area has received a cold weather payment by entering your postcode into the government's tool. Remember, the weather must be freezing for seven consecutive days for you to qualify for the payment.
