Costa Coffee shuts down branch without explanation
A major coffee chain with 2,000 stores nationwide, Costa Coffee, has unexpectedly closed one of its branches in Newport, Wales. The reason for the closure has not been provided.
All team members redeployed to nearby stores
The Commercial Street branch has confirmed that all team members have been redeployed to other Costa Coffee stores in the area. The store has been emptied of all its produce.
Costa Coffee spokesperson confirms closure
A spokesperson for Costa Coffee said, "We can confirm that the Costa Coffee store on Commercial Street in Newport has closed its doors for trade. All team members have been redeployed to our nearby stores. Customers can continue to enjoy their favourite Costa coffee at our Drive Thru store on Usk Way in Newport."
Chain has closed several stores this year
Costa Coffee has already closed a number of its stores this year. The chain regularly reviews its store estate across the UK to ensure it meets the needs of its communities and teams. This can result in the closure, renovation, or opening of stores.
Other Costa Coffee closures
So far this year, Costa Coffee has closed a total of seven sites, with the most recent closure taking place on September 22. Some of the closed sites will be reopening in the future with a new look and additional features, such as a drive-thru lane.
