Domino's Pizza has launched pasta-inspired lasagne and carbonara versions

One Twitter user went as far as stating that Domino's had declared war on Italy with these new combinations.

Introducing the Ultimate Lasagne and Ultimate Carbonara Pizzas

The Ultimate Lasagne pizza is a delectable mixture of rich cheese sauce, ground beef, tomatoes, onions, herbs, and mozzarella, topped with a tomato sauce drizzle.

Meanwhile, the Ultimate Carbonara features creamy cheese sauce, smoked bacon, mushrooms, and mozzarella.

Italian Chef Michele Pascarella, who was crowned the Global Pizza Maker of the Year in 2023, expressed his disbelief at these pizzas, stating that Italians would not consume them.

According to Pascarella, adding these pizzas to his menu would make his customers think he was crazy.

Pascarella, who is originally from Naples and the founder of the renowned pizzeria Napoli in Chiswick, West London, further criticized the pizzas, saying that carbonara should not include mushrooms, cream, or bacon.

Domino's Responds to the Criticism

Louise Pilkington, Domino's Director of Innovation, defended the new creations, stating that nothing represents home comforts better than the classic flavors of lasagne and carbonara.

According to Pilkington, the idea behind putting these flavors on a pizza is to provide customers with a unique and comforting experience.
