Deadline Looming
EasyJet passengers have been advised by Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert to use their Covid-19 vouchers within the next 24 hours. The vouchers were issued to customers whose flights and holidays were cancelled due to the pandemic. The deadline to redeem the vouchers is set for Wednesday, Jan 31.
£58 Million Worth of Vouchers Still Unredeemed
According to Money Saving Expert, EasyJet reported last year that £58 million worth of vouchers have yet to be redeemed. Originally, the deadline was set for the end of July 2021, but it was extended to give customers more time to plan their travels.
Use It or Lose It
Passengers are reminded that the vouchers can only be used to book flights, not for actual travel. Those who fail to redeem their vouchers before the deadline will not be able to get a refund or exchange them.
How to Redeem Your Voucher
To redeem your flight voucher, visit the EasyJet website and select the flights you want to purchase. Enter your voucher's redemption code during the booking process. You can use the full value of your voucher for a single booking or use part of it to pay for a less expensive booking. If there is any remaining credit, EasyJet will issue another voucher to cover the difference.
Know Your Rights
Money Saving Expert also highlighted customers' rights in case of flight delays or cancellations. If your flight is cancelled, regardless of the reason or notice, you are entitled to a refund or an alternative journey. Airlines are also expected to reimburse passengers who had to rebook their own replacement flights. Additionally, if your flight is delayed for more than five hours and you no longer wish to travel, you can request a refund. Compensation may also be available for delays of at least three hours or within two weeks of departure.
