YOU can create bespoke-style furniture on a budget using affordable pieces from Ikea.

Adapting staples from the Swedish store yields big savings, plus it gives your home its own style.

We have four saving tricks to create bespoke-style furniture using pieces from Ikea

Here are four handy tricks . . .

EASY DRESSING TABLE: Make a fabulous dressing table on a budget with Ikea’s £45 Ekby Alex shelf with drawers.

Decide on a wall area where you want a vanity station, then attach the drawers at table height.

This works as an alternative to a dressing table as the drawers are shallow but wide.

Complete the glam station with your mirror and stool of choice.

CUSTOMISED MIRROR PANEL: Giant industrial-style windowpane mirrors are popular but can easily cost around £100.

Using Ikea’s £1 Lonsas mirror, plus the Yllevad black frame for 75p, you can get the same style statement for a fraction of the price.

First, plan the size of the mirror you want.

A nine-panel three by three (working out at £15.75) is a good place to start.

Pop mirrors in the frames then use command strips to attach to a wall — a pack of 12 costs around £3 from Amazon.

The frames need to be side by side in rows and columns.

Using a spirit level will help you keep the edges from sloping when attaching.

CHEAT BUILT-IN WARDROBES: Built-in wardrobes look great but can cost thousands of pounds.

However, Ikea’s Pax units easily look as good as a bespoke solution — as long as your ceiling is not much above 240cm. Prices for a one-door wardrobe start from £122 or units without doors start at £240.

You can mix and match units to fit the space.

And Ikea also has an online Pax planner to create a wardrobe perfect for your bedroom.

BUDGET ALCOVE SHELVING: The Havasta and Hauga ranges mimic the popular shelf and cupboard combination in living room alcoves.

Again, using a carpenter to create a bespoke version can cost thousands of pounds.

On the other hand, the Ikea cabinets start from £179 and come in a range of sizes so you can find the one that will slot into your space.
