SEEK THEM OUT: The crowds may head to Glastonbury, or next month’s Reading and Leeds bash, but there are plenty of free events that will stay in your summer memories.
Hugh Campbell, co-founder of event marketplace Togather, said: “Use hashtags to search social media for events near you — such as #freelondonfestival — then ask others for money-saving recommendations and tips.”

FREE FOR ALL: If you’re looking for a festival with a bit of everything, the Bristol Harbour Festival with family activities, circus performances and live music, from July 14 to 16, won’t disappoint.
Next month’s Edinburgh Fringe is packed with entertainment — some that you have to pay for, but much you don’t. Hull’s Freedom Festival, starting on August 30, has a packed programme of performances – much of it free.
TAKE PRIDE: The various Pride festivals around the country are a must to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.

WORK YOUR TICKET: Check if any festivals have volunteer or paid work that could get you inside the gig for free.
Charities including Samaritans and Oxfam have helpers at big events and may provide tickets in exchange for your time.
It’s probably too late to get a free pass for this year, so plan ahead for 2024.
