A popular high street retailer with 240 shops is set to close a handful of its stores as shoppers flock to grab big discounts. Game, known for its wide range of gaming products, has announced that several stores across the country will be boarding up their windows.

Customers and staff members of the Game store in Witney, Oxfordshire, were left devastated after hearing the news of its closure. The store's last trading day will be on January 7th, leaving staff members without jobs and loyal customers without their favorite store.

Other Game Stores Closing Across the UK

Reports indicate that Game stores in Plymouth, Cambridgeshire, and Newport, Wales, have also decided to shut down. However, the Newport store quickly reopened in a different location just two days later. In total, Game has over 240 stores across the UK.

Game is not the only retailer facing the need to close stores in the UK. High street chains such as House of Fraser and Sports Direct have also been forced to shut down some of their locations.
