A man in Worcester, UK, was quoted over £2,600 to have his decking redone. Instead, he took matters into his own hands and saved £1,600 by purchasing materials from Facebook Marketplace.

An astonishing makeover

Michael Hanna, 33, decided to give his garden a stunning transformation by building his own decking. Not only did he save a significant amount of money, but he also created a space that is bright and inviting for visitors.

Cutting costs with second-hand supplies

Instead of spending a fortune, Michael managed to spend only £938 on supplies for the project. How did he do it? He purchased second-hand power tools from Facebook Marketplace and sourced the rest from Amazon and local timber yards.

A DIY success story

Michael followed YouTube guides to cut the timber and fit it properly. Although he faced a few challenges along the way, such as drilling the brick wall multiple times to find the right drill, he persevered and created a beautiful finished product.

A wise investment

By taking the DIY route, Michael saved an impressive amount of money. Instead of paying a professional £2,600, he spent just £938. The couple also added new lights and replaced some of the brickwork with fencing to complete the project.

Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals, praised Michael for his cost-saving efforts and predicted that he and his wife will enjoy their new decking for years to come.
