TESCO is renewing its “Kids Eat Free” offer during the October half-term.

Kids will be able to eat free in all 311 Tesco cafes between October 17 and 28 in England and Scotland.

The same offer runs between October 31 and November 4 in Wales.

But parents will still have to spend 60p or more to claim one free kids meal worth up to £3.25.

So if you were to purchase two pieces (£1.20) of fruit you could feed two children for free.

And there’s another catch – you’ll only be able to take part in the scheme if you’re a Clubcard holder.

The supermarket first rolled out the “Kids Eat Free” scheme back in the summer.

The announcement that the scheme will be renewed over the October half-term comes only days after Tesco announced a price freeze on more than 1,000 everyday products until 2023.

It comes as families are faced with soaring food and energy bills due to the cost of living crisis.

Asda also launched a £1 meal deal to help people with the cost of living this week.

The meal deal dubbed the “winter warmer”, will provide those over 60 with a portion of soup, a roll and unlimited tea and coffee – all for £1.

We’ve explained what meals your kids can get for free in Tesco below – as well as how to secure the offer.

What can my kids eat for free?

As part of the free meal scheme, Tesco is offering the following breakfasts and lunches.

Parents can save £2.25 on:

  • Little beans on toast
  • Little eggs on toast
  • Little avocado on toast

They’ll also save £3.25 on:

  • Pork sausages, veg, side and a drink
  • Baked chicken goujons, veg, side and a drink
  • Omega 3 fish fingers, veg, side and a drink
  • Hidden veg mac ‘n’ cheese, veg, side and a drink

Kids not wanting a hot meal can also get a sandwich, drink, single fruit item and choice of two snacks as part of the supermarket’s ‘Cold Pick ‘n’ Mix Deal’.

What do I have to buy to lock-in a free kids meal?

You’ll need to be a Clubcard holder and will need to purchase one of the following items to allow your child to eat for free in Tesco’s cafes:

  • 60p fruit (apple, banana, easy peeler)
  • £1 biscuit items
  • £2 bakery items
  • £1.80 breakfast tea
  • £2.75 small latte
  • £4.95 small breakfast
  • £3.50 avocado and toast

How does Tesco Clubcard work?

Clubcard vouchers are collected when you scan your membership card at the till at Tesco.

You get one point for every £1 spent – or one point for every £2 on fuel – and 150 points is equivalent to a £1.50 voucher.

It’s better value for money to spend vouchers with one of Tesco’s reward partners, but you can also spend them on your supermarket shopping.

Points are worth up to three times more when you redeem them with one of the supermarket’s partners.

Shoppers who use their Clubcard can also get discounts on selected items.

Where can I get help this winter?

If you are looking for general help during the cost of living crisis, there are a number of charities and organisations that may be able to help:

National Debtline – 0808 808 4000

Step Change – 0800 138 1111

Citizens Advice – 0808 800 9060

Energy suppliers also have schemes in place where you can apply for free grants to put towards your energy bills.
