Winning Streak Cut Short

Two lottery scratchcard winners, Jon-Ross Watson and Mark Goodram, missed out on claiming their £4 million prize due to a "slip up" when trying to claim the cash. The duo celebrated their jackpot win on a four-day bender in London back in 2019.

The Slip Up

After purchasing the winning ticket using someone else's bank card, Goodram inadvertently revealed during the prize claim process that he didn't have a bank account, raising suspicions at Camelot. The investigation revealed the stolen card belonged to a man named Joshua Addyman.

Legal Consequences

Despite their attempts to claim the prize and Watson's media blitz claiming mistreatment by Camelot, both men were sentenced to 18 months in jail for admitting to three counts of fraud by false representation. Detective Constable Michelle Wilkinson commended the vigilance of Camelot staff and the investigative efforts that led to their conviction.

Karma Strikes Back

Goodram's ex-girlfriend, Shelly Birtles, suggested that if the scratchcard was purchased using a stolen debit card, the winnings should rightfully go to the card owner or be used to compensate victims of Goodram's past crimes.
