A MAJOR supermarket has revealed it will shut over Easter.

Lidl will be closed on Easter Sunday (April 9), opening again on Easter Monday between 8am-8pm.

Lidl will be closed over Easter

Opening times may vary across stores, so you should check with your local branch.

You can find out where that is using the store locator online.

The closure comes as shops in England and Wales larger than 280 square metres have to close on Easter Sunday and Christmas Day, under Government rules.

Sundays trading laws stipulate that any stores that choose to remain open can only do so for six consecutive hours between 10am and 6pm.

The supermarket has confirmed branches across England and Wales will be open as normal until 10pm on Good Friday and Saturday.

If you live in Scotland, you should double check your local branch as opening times might be different.

Lidl has over 935 stores in the UK made up of regular supermarkets, Extra stores and Express shops.

It comes as several other supermarkets already confirmed to HOAR what their opening hours will be over the Easter bank holiday.

Tesco will also be closing its large stores in England, Northern Ireland and Wales on Easter Sunday, April 9.

However, shops in Scotland will open in line with Sunday trading hours.

The supermarket chain has also announced that many of its large stores will be operating reduced hours on Easter Monday too.

It said that the majority of its Express stores will remain open on the Sunday, and all shops will return to normal trading hours on the Monday.

And on Good Friday many of its stores will be open as usual but those that are normally open late will close earlier at 10pm.

But these aren’t guaranteed opening hours and will vary depending on the shop.

Again do check on the Tesco store locator if you want to be sure.

Elsewhere, Aldi is closing all its England and Wales stores on Easter Sunday.

The retailer said branches will be open between 8am and 10pm on Good Friday, 8am to 10pm on Easter Saturday and 8am to 8pm on Easter Monday.

Meanwhile, Sainsbury’s will pull down shutters on 600 big stores in England and Wales on Easter Sunday too.

Asda has also revealed that its England, Wales and Northern Ireland branches will close on April 9 while its Scotland shops will remain open.

The deal, which grants you any freebie from Lidl’s Favorina Easter chocolate range, runs out tomorrow, so you’d better hurry.

You’ll just need to scan a barcode on your app which will appear once you spend the minimum amount.

You can browse the full collection online before you visit – normal prices range from 79p to £4.99.

And remember you’ll need to visit in person in order to get the deal.
