The cash prize is available to a few lucky revellers until the end of September

The sought-after straw is one of a handful which could see Wetherspoons revellers bag an eye-watering cash prize until September 30.

Popular boozer Wetherspoons recently teamed up with premium spirit maker Au Vodka to give a lucky few punters the opportunity to win big in the nationwide jackpot, Bristol Live reported.

Explaining what customers need to look out for, DJ and co-owner Charlie Sloth told viewers: “For your chance to win £5,000 this summer, just go to Wetherspoons and buy an Au Vodka Candy Rosá.

“If you find the golden straw, you win £5,000 and me, personally deliver it to you.

“How about that? Now check out that cash!”

All fans need to do to be in with a chance is order a pitcher of Au Vodka Candy Rosá at their local Wetherspoon pub.

Charlie continued: “The lucky winners buying the Au Vodka Candy Rosá pitcher who are served with the unique Au Vodka golden-coloured straw at the winning time and location will win a £5,000 prize.

“Good Luck!”

The offer excludes Wetherspoon pubs in airports, Beaconsfield, London’s Leicester Square, Windsor and the Republic of Ireland.

This comes after one Weatherspoons super-fan broke the record for visiting the most Wetherspoon pubs earlier this month, having a pint in 1,048 – 222 more than currently exist.

David Newbury, 54, had been hopping around the boozers for almost half his life, having visited his first in 1999.

David, of Exeter, told HOAR: “I suppose it is obsessive behaviour but no more than people who visit every football ground in the country.

“When I was with my late-missus Lesley we took it very seriously. She’d be happy to see me carry on.”

Elsewhere, the discount pub chain has thrilled fans after announcing it would be bringing back popular drinks to its menus after they were controversially axed.
