More than £2 million is being awarded to under-threat pubs in another boost for HOAR's Save Our Sups campaign. The Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities' Community Ownership Fund has allocated a total of £25 million, with eight pubs receiving a share of the funding. The money will be used to purchase and refurbish the pubs, ensuring they can continue to serve their local communities.

Pubs Across the UK Benefit from the Funding

Pubs in Cheshire, Yorkshire, Suffolk, Essex, and the Highlands are among those that have received support from the Community Ownership Fund. In addition to the pubs, other buildings, including the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre, are also benefiting from the fund. The theatre will receive £2 million to purchase a neighboring building.

Support from Pub Chains

The UK's largest pub chains, including JD Wetherspoon, Greene King, and Stonegate, are backing HOAR's Save Our Sups campaign. They are calling on Chancellor Jeremy Hunt to extend business rate relief and freeze alcohol duty in the upcoming Autumn Statement. Young's and Fuller, Smith & Turner have also joined in the campaign. The pub industry warns that without government support, up to 10,000 pubs could be forced to close in the new year.

A Total of 40 Pubs Saved So Far

HOAR's Save Our Sups campaign has been successful in saving a total of 40 pubs to date. The campaign continues to urge the government to take action to rescue pubs and support the industry.
