Tesco has issued an urgent recall for a popular £2.20 food item due to a serious allergy risk. The supermarket giant has pulled a batch of Tesco 18 Cupcakes from their shelves after it was discovered that the label does not declare soya as an ingredient.
Anaphylaxis Risk
This poses a significant risk to individuals with an allergy to soya. In severe cases, exposure to soya can lead to anaphylaxis, a severe and potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. Anaphylaxis can occur within seconds or minutes after exposure to an allergen, causing the immune system to release chemicals that can result in shock. Symptoms include a sudden drop in blood pressure, narrowing of the airways, difficulty breathing, rapid and weak pulse, skin rash, nausea, and vomiting.
Immediate Action Required
Tesco has urged customers who have purchased the affected cupcakes to refrain from consuming them and return the product to the store for a full refund. No receipt is required for the refund. Customers with further inquiries can contact Tesco Customer Services directly at 0800 505 555.
