Unwanted Presents Include Bag of Onions, Broken Toy, and Fly Zapper

It's the gift that will wipe the smile off your face this Christmas: a roll of toilet paper. Consumer group Which? has ranked it as the worst Christmas gift in their latest survey. Other less-than-ideal presents included a bag of onions, a broken toy, and a fly zapper.

Questionable Choices: Anti-Wrinkle Cream and Dead Chicken

One daring husband took a risk by giving his wife a tub of anti-wrinkle cream, while another parent gave a bar of chocolate to their lactose-intolerant child. A vegan even received a dead chicken from a butcher friend. These gifts definitely missed the mark.

Unwanted Gifts a Common Occurrence

According to the survey, one in four people admitted to receiving an unwanted or rubbish gift last Christmas. Almost one in three said they planned to give it away, sell it online, or return it to the retailer. Shockingly, one in 20 respondents admitted they would simply throw it away.

Tips for Avoiding Gifting Mishaps

Harry Kind, spokesperson for Which?, advises gift-givers to always get a gift receipt. This allows the recipient the option to return or exchange the gift if necessary. While typically only the buyer can request a refund or exchange, some retailers may have returns policies that allow the recipient to return the gift if it was marked as a gift when ordered.
