Go Outdoors, with 93 locations across the country, is shutting down one of its branches in Oxford.

The UK's biggest outdoor store, Go Outdoors, is set to close one of its branches in just a few hours. The store, located on Old Abingdon Road in Oxford, will shut its doors for the final time later today. Go Outdoors, known for selling camping gear, fishing equipment, and ski gear, has a total of 93 locations across the UK. The closure notice can be found on the company's website, with the company offering an additional 20% off for members.

Reason for Closure: Building in Disrepair

The closure of the Oxford branch is reportedly due to the building being in a state of disrepair. The company has been unable to secure insurance to ensure the safety of its employees and customers. However, Go Outdoors has stated that it intends to invest in a new and improved store in the future. In the meantime, the closest outlet to Oxford will be the Swindon store.

Shoppers React to the News

Shoppers have taken to social media to express their shock and disappointment at the sudden closure. Many customers have been loyal to the store for years and are now unsure of where to find similar products. While some were surprised by the news, others claim that the closure has been expected for quite some time.

Other Retailers Facing Closure

Go Outdoors is not the only retailer feeling the effects of the current economic climate. Several well-known brands, including Poundland, New Look, Homebase, Marks and Spencer, and Boots, have been closing stores across the country. The cost of living crisis, high inflation, and energy costs have all contributed to these closures. However, there are also some retailers looking to expand, such as Asda, Wilko's, Poundland, and Costco.
