Amounts You Can Expect to Receive
The amount you receive depends on your circumstances:
- If you live alone and qualify – £500 to £600
- If you live with someone under 80 who also qualifies – £250 to £350
- If you live with someone over 80 who also qualifies – £250 to £300
- If you or your partner receive benefits – £500 to £600
- If you live in a care home and don't receive benefits – £250 to £300

In most cases, you don't need to claim the payment as it will be automatically paid into your bank account. However, if you are not on qualifying benefits, you will need to claim if you haven't received the winter fuel payment before or if you have deferred your state pension since your last payment.
