Casey and Savannah from Hey Wanderer have taken off-grid living to a whole new level by building their own tiny home in the middle of a forest. They started by placing a shed they bought on some land they owned and spent the last 18 months turning it into their dream home. Now, they live happily with their seven chickens, two dogs, and three cats.

Making a House, Not Just a Shed

Casey and Savannah had a vision to make the shed look and feel like a real home. They dedicated themselves to DIY projects to achieve a cozy, homely atmosphere. This wasn't an easy task, as they faced a leaking roof, no insulation, and brutal weather conditions during the process. They even lived in the freezing shed for several months, relying solely on a wood burner for heat.

Learning Skills and Overcoming Challenges

The couple learned many new skills out of necessity, from installing insulation to building a bathhouse and designing the interior. They enlisted the help of professionals to speed up the insulation process, but everything else was done by their own hands. Despite the challenges they faced, Casey and Savannah are constantly amazed at what they can accomplish.

Living the Off-Grid Dream

Originally from Nashville, the best friends now call the Appalachian Mountains in Tennessee their home. They make a living through blogging and creating content, using their platform to share regular updates on their tiny home transformation. They celebrated a year since buying their five-acre plot and consider it the best decision they ever made.

A Home Almost Complete

After over a year of hard work, Casey and Savannah's tiny home is now almost finished. It features a modern kitchen, a living space, and even a separate bedroom. The couple's most recent project was building an al-fresco dining area, which serves as an outdoor kitchen for them to cook meals without turning their home into a sauna. They are proud of what they have accomplished and are excited to continue their off-grid living adventure.
