Wetherspoons Pub Closes Down, Leaving Pubgoers Devastated

A popular Wetherspoons pub in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, has officially closed down, much to the disappointment of local residents. The Widow Frost was set to pour its last pint on September 22, but a note left on the pub's door shocked pubgoers by announcing an earlier closure on September 17, 2023. However, loyal customers gathered at the pub to say goodbye and celebrate the good times they had there.

Heartfelt Farewell at The Widow Frost

The closure of The Widow Frost didn't dampen the spirits of its regulars, who filled the pub for one final gathering. Entertainment was provided by a Celine Dion tribute performer, while banners and balloons were put up to bid farewell to the beloved establishment. Although saddened by the closure, local residents remained positive and reminisced about the great experiences they had at the pub.

No Staff Redundancies, Just Transfers

Wetherspoons assured the public that there would be no job losses due to the closure of The Widow Frost. The staff members will be transferred to nearby pubs in Mansfield, Workshop, Sutton, or Kirkby, ensuring that regular customers will still be greeted by familiar faces. While the exact details of the new owner and reopening are yet to be confirmed, the premises are expected to be closed for around four months before it is reopened.

Not the Only Wetherspoons Pub to Close

The Widow Frost is just one of 32 Wetherspoons pubs that have recently closed or are in the process of closing. The chain has already shut down 29 of them, including popular locations such as the Silkstone Inn in Barnsley and the Hope & Champion in Beaconsfield. However, it's worth noting that Wetherspoons has also opened three new branches in the past year.
