A THIRD of Tories say they would vote for Boris Johnson to be leader again if he were on the ballot paper.

And members threw their weight behind Ms Truss for sticking by the PM in Cabinet as he faced a brutal coup to force him out.

More than 35 per cent said they would back the PM to remain in post if they had the chance, Tory bible ConHome revealed.

The results are bad news for fledgling Rishi Sunak, who resigned in order to try and force out the PM last month.

Insiders think they will be more likely to opt for Ms Truss than the ex-Chancellor.

The poll also revealed that ministers including Foreign Sec Ms Truss, Dominic Raab, and Simon Clarke saw their Cabinet ratings boosted for refusing to join the putsch.

But BoJo’s attack dog Nadine Dorries saw her ratings fall off a cliff into nearly negative territory after a series of bitter swipes which went down badly.

Yesterday she deleted a tweet of a photoshopped image of Mr Sunak stabbing Boris in the back after a furious backlash.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace still tops the league table with an approval rating of +85.

He is followed by Ms Truss on +62, and new entry, veterans minister, Johnny Mercer at +54.4.
