Solidarity with Israel

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson made a surprise trip to Israel to show solidarity with the Jewish state following the deadly attacks on October 7. He joined former Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison on a tour of the war-torn region.

Calling out evil

During his visit to the Kfar Aza kibbutz, which was attacked by Hamas, Johnson condemned the terrorist group's actions as "evil." He emphasized that terrorists were causing "maximum harm to the innocent."

Warning of antisemitism

Johnson expressed concern about the rise in antisemitism, particularly amid mass pro-Palestine protests. He called on those demonstrating against Israel to witness the devastation he witnessed during his stay.

Support for Israel

Johnson highlighted the importance of the state of Israel as a safe haven for Jews. He praised Israeli efforts to protect civilians and criticized attempts to draw a moral equivalence between the actions of Israeli troops and terrorists.

Remembering the Holocaust

Johnson warned that the memory of the Holocaust may be starting to fade and stressed the need to combat antisemitism. He expressed concern about the unthinking way people were discussing the Israeli-Palestinian issue, which he believes is evidence of growing antisemitism.

Meeting with British-Israeli soldiers

During his visit, Johnson also met with British-Israeli soldiers in Jerusalem. He expressed strong disagreement with those who try to equate the actions of the soldiers with those of terrorists.
