EU chief Michel Barnier humiliated Jeremy Corbyn by liking a tweet branding him a “notorious racist”.

The Brussels bigwig embarrassed the Labour leader after Mr Corbyn clashed with Boris Johnson over Brexit in last night’s ITV’s leaders’ debate.

Mr Barnier liked the tweet by journalist and commentator Tom Harwood

The official Twitter account of Mr Barnier, the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator, liked the tweet attacking Mr Corbyn by journalist and commentator Tom Harwood, following the debate before next month’s general election.

It isn’t known if Mr Barnier was operating his account at the time, or if the tweet was liked by accident.

Mr Harwood tweeted: “Tbf it’s a bit questionable that Boris shared a platform tonight with a notorious racist.

“Serious questions should be raised.”

BARNIER EMBARRASSES CORBYN

It was the first time Mr Barnier’s account had liked a tweet for a month.

It came after Mr Corbyn ducked questions on his Brexit policy during last night’s hour-long live TV debate.

After Mr Harwood saw the EU chief has liked his tweet, he posted “omg, pretty sure this is a bit of a blow to Labour’s renegotiation plans..”

It sparked a Twtter storm, with Mr Harwood sharing a screenshot showing Mr Barnier liking his tweet.

Michael Fabricant, Conservative MP for Lichfield, tweeted: “So Michel Barnier liked a tweet identifying #Corbyn as a racist.”

Oliver Cooper, leader of the Tories in Camden, North London, posted: “Michel Barnier hasn’t ‘liked’ a tweet in a month, but he likes @tomhfh calling Jeremy Corbyn a notorious racist.

“Not sure about that Labour renegotiation now, lads.”

The PM went head to head with Jeremy Corbyn in a live clash last night
The Boris vs Corbyn debate was lively as both candidates took chunks out of each other

One person tweeted: Barnier trolling Corbyn – What a bizarre night of politics this has been.

And another said: “Michel Barnier just liked a tweet that implies Jeremy Corbyn is a notorious racist.

“Those Brexit talks would be tense.”

Michel Barnier’s account no longer shows it liked the tweet branding Mr Corbyn a racist.

Following last night’s debate, a YouGov poll of 1,646 voters showed 51 percent of voters backed the Prime Minister as the winner over Mr Corbyn, who polled 49 per cent.

The Labour leader refused NINE times to say whether he would back his OWN Brexit deal in a bruising TV clash.

The PM repeatedly pushed the leftie Labour boss to answer in their first live debate ahead of the December 12 poll.

In the first head-to-head fight of the election, Boris’ high stakes gamble paid off as the Labour boss was left floundering and was booed by the audience.

Despite going in as the favourite and the incumbent, Boris came out fighting and won the debate, viewers thought.

The PM made the entire debate about Brexit – skewering the leftie boss for his complete failure to make up his mind on whether Britain should leave the EU.

Mr Corbyn dodged questions several times – from both the PM and host Julie Etchingham – on how he would campaign in a second referendum.

He claimed he wants to renegotiate a new deal with Brussels in just three months and put it back to the people for another vote.

But nine times in the hour-long debate he refused to say which side he would take afterwards.

The leftie boss said: “We will negotiate an agreement and we will put that alongside remain in a referendum.

“I will carry out that referendum, it will be a genuine choice. And we will carry it out.”

Britain goes to the polls on December 12.
