Foreign Secretary Liz Truss announced she has sanctioned 386 members of the Russian Parliament to continue punishing Kremlin stooges giving succour to the invasion.

Britain has sanctioned 386 members of the Russian Duma

They are all members of the Duma, the lower house, who voted in favour to recognise the independence of breakaway regions Luhansk and Donetsk – a Putin power grab.

The EU sanctioned the Russian politicians on February 15 and sparked criticism that Britain was not acting quick enough.

Today’s sanction swoop brings the total number sanctioned to 400, which includes dozens of oligarchs and Putin himself.

Ms Truss said: “We’re targeting those complicit in Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine and those who support this barbaric war.

“We will not let up the pressure and will continue to tighten the screw on the Russian economy through sanctions.

“Together with our allies, we stand firmly beside our Ukrainian friends. We will continue to support Ukraine with humanitarian aid, defensive weapons and diplomatic work to isolate Russia internationally.”

Yesterday Chelsea FC boss Roman Abramovich was sanctioned – banning him from selling the club and putting its future in doubt.

The billionaire was whacked with an asset freeze and travel ban  with the Government citing close ties to Putin.

That means the day to day running Chelsea is effectively paralysed with the club unable to even sell tickets or merchandise from its megastore.
